Discover the timeless beauty of Jaipur’s blue pottery — a craft unlike any other, made entirely without clay. In this immersive session, participants will meet a traditional artisan and witness the intricate process of shaping and painting pieces made from glass and quartz using age-old techniques. Through demonstrations and guided conversations, the workshop offers a window into the unique materiality, motifs, and cultural heritage of this rare craft. Participants will also have the opportunity to paint their own blue pottery tile or magnet with magical colors that transform after firing, experiencing firsthand the meditative rhythm and artistry behind one of India’s most exquisite handmade traditions.

Facilitators: Jagdish Narayan Gujar and Lyla Freechild

This workshop is part of Kristine Michael’s curation, Home is Where the Heart is.
