Have you eaten today? Probably!
But do you know from where in the world and from how far it came?

This workshop introduces children to the essential concept of food miles through a creative, intuitive approach that engages their senses and enhances their understanding of the interconnections between their food habits and the earth. Children discuss diets on a typical day; break it down to key food ingredients; learn to discern labels on everyday foods; and undertake spatial mapping and number crunching that is easy, fast paced and fun.

And what are the nuggets we hope they take home?

It’s not terribly hard to find out from how far my food comes, as long as I stay curious. Plus, what my family and I eat has a direct impact on our health and the planet. Ergo, what we choose to eat, matters!
