Get ready to turn waste paper into wonder! Join artisan Kausar Ahmed Shah for a fun, hands-on dive into the world of Kashmiri papier-mâché — where everyday scraps transform into art full of life and storytelling.
In this lively session, participants will learn how to make paper pulp dough from recycled paper and cast it into playful moulds of birds, cats, and other forms. You’ll get to try your hand at shaping soft pulp into solid pieces — and also take home beautifully pre-dried papier-mâché forms to paint or decorate later.
The workshop is all about exploring what’s possible with waste, creativity, and a little bit of mess! Discover how this centuries-old Kashmiri craft can turn the simplest materials into something joyful, meaningful, and sustainable.
Please note that all materials will be provided by the artisan.
This workshop is a part of Sandeep Sangaru’s curation, Hands, Tools, and the Living Thread: From Kashmiri Craft Ateliers.
Facilitators: Kausar Ahmed Shah
